Hunting in South Estonia

Hotel Metsis is well known for its hunting tourism offer in cooperation with the Koorküla Hunting Club. It has been a popular destination for hunting enthusiasts for many years. Hunting excursions are organised in a wide hunting area of an impressive 6500 hectares. This gives hunters the opportunity to enjoy a varied and extensive hunting industry and to spend time in nature.

 

Hunting in the forests of Koorküla is possible for a wide variety of species, including wild boar, lynx, wolves and beavers. Depending on the size of the hunting party, both tower and driven hunts are offered, allowing every hunting enthusiast to find a suitable and exciting way to enjoy the hunting experience.

 

Andres and Tõnis Balodis, experienced hunters with many years of experience in hunting, are part of the team at Hotel Metsis. Game seasons:

  • Boar stalking or stalking (except of emis with piglets) - all year round: The hunting of feral pigs by stalking or stalking is authorised throughout the year. This allows hunters to hunt feral pigs all year round, except for boars with sows.
  • Boar hunting - 01.10 - 28.02: Boar hunting is allowed from 1 October to 28 February. This is the period when hunters can participate in a feral pig hunt under a special permit, using appropriate hunting equipment and methods.
  • LYNX (except mother with cubs) - 01.12 - 28.02: The lynx hunting season runs from 1 December to 28 February. During this period it is allowed to hunt lynx, except the mother with cubs, in order to ensure their sustainability and to protect their offspring
  • WOLF - 01.11 - 28.02: The wolf hunt takes place from 1 November to 28 February. This is the period when hunters can take part in wolf hunts in accordance with the hunting rules and restrictions in force.
  • BEAVER - 01.08 - 15.04: The Beaver hunting season runs from 1 August to 15 April. This period allows hunters to hunt beavers while complying with current hunting regulations and conservation restrictions.

To participate in hunting, you need:

  • Hunting gun: You must have a suitable and legal hunting gun that complies with hunting laws and regulations. The choice of hunting rifle depends on the specific hunt and the purpose of the hunt.
  • Gun licence:  To use a hunting gun, you must have a valid firearms licence in accordance with your country's hunting laws and regulations. A gun licence shows that you have the right and permission to own and use a hunting weapon.
  • Hunting licence: a valid hunting licence is required to take part in the hunt, as it certifies your competence and knowledge of hunting.
  • Valid shooting test: Proof of a valid shooting test may be required prior to participation in a hunt. Before participating in a hunt, you will be required to pass a qualifying shooting test. This means that you have passed the shooting test and demonstrat
